Founded in 2010 by Güneş Mutlu with idealistic dreams, Mehry Mu is a brand of locally produced bags that, in the designer's words, have “soul.” The elegant collections, created in collaboration with artisans from different disciplines, carry colorful stories of love and adventure with nostalgic and romantic elements in perfect balance.
Mehry Mu's story began when Güneş Mutlu listened to what she learned during her master's degree in psychology and surrendered to her irresistible attraction to fashion. With the entrepreneurial spirit she inherited from her family, her first career step was to launch an online shopping website focused on fashion and decoration, and this process led her to realize that there was a lack of bags that appealed to her taste. Mutlu blended her poetic and elegant aesthetic sensibility with inspiration drawn from diverse interests spanning anthropology, literature, style icons, and travel culture, and the formula worked; Mehry Mu designs are now the focus of attention for international trendsetters like Jennifer Lawrence and Olivia Palermo, as well as iconic fashion destinations such as Net-à-Porter.com and Le Bon Marché Paris.
Güneş Mutlu, a mother of two, built her brand on human and artistic values, along with all the fairy-tale and luxury notions. To embody this idealism, Mehry Mu donates a portion of its sales revenue to the Red Children Association, which supports children and young adults under protection. Additionally, each new Mehry Mu season brings collector's postcards and bag covers. Among the artists creating special pieces within this concept are illustrator Paige Gemmel, visual art duo Pınar & Viola, artist and cartoonist Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu, and contemporary textile artist Fırat Neziroğlu.
Why bags with soul? Because Güneş Mutlu believes that everything is connected by a single collective consciousness, and sees her designs as part of this miracle. Amidst the chaos of the world, Mehry Mu forges ahead with imagination and compassion.
